Ok. It's been more than 3 months since I've posted, and I've gotten a few inquiring (irritated?) emails about this, so I'm back on the wagon.
It's February 1st. Expect a post every day this month!
And if you want to leave a comment or two along the way, please do. It's great affirmation for me, which is obviously the most important thing.
Coming up later today: a post about our weekend in Salt Lake City, and Frank's first (only?) snowshoe marathoning experience.

Yesterday morning, Frank successfully directed his first marathon, the Frankenthon Monster Marathon.
He made it look easy, though I know how much effort he put into it. Just about every one of the 105 racers came up to us to say nice things, and though we haven't tallied it yet, we think we'll be able to make a nice contribution to the Cedar Park Public Library. Yay Frank!
And thanks to our wonderful friends & family for getting up at 4am to help us with the event. We really appreciate it.

Frank: "Brush your teeth or they'll fall out and you'll look like an old witch!"
C: "But if they all fell out, I'd get lots of money, huh?"

Today's school picture day, and just in case we get another grimacing-deer-in-the-headlights photo, I took my own:

This shot followed several minutes of Why do I have to wear my "fancy clothes" for the picture? And FYI - he actually put the finger quotes around that phrase to make me laugh, which made him laugh, which is how we ended up with a nice picture. Win!

I've now harvested two peppers from my vine. They are for some reason fairly elongated, instead of bell-shaped (but tasty nontheless):

Also growing: tomatoes, cucumbers, and broccoli.
I haven't grown cucumbers before, and was surprised to see that the flower is at the end of the cucumber (see the dingy yellow thing at the end?) rather than the cucumber growing out of the flower like a pepper. Who knew?

Pic taken 10/19/2009. LOTS of growth in just 5 days.
The lemons are also maturing nicely:

And lastly for today: we have a large burrow hole in our backyard. It's hard to get a sense of the scale from the picture, but I could probably put my arm in as far as I could reach, if I were so inclined. The tunnel leads under our deck. I'm not super freaked out by this (the hole, I mean. I'm super freaked out by the idea of sticking my arm in there), but I am really curious about what could be living in there.
