Zachary Scott Theatre Center (ZACH) is the oldest continuously operating professional resident theatre in Texas and among the 10 original resident theatre companies in America. Through live theatre and youth education, ZACH feeds Austin's artistic soul while also engaging the community in a lively and meaningful social dialogue. More popular than ever with residents and tourists alike, ZACH has experienced phenomenal growth over the past decade; the center's annual budget has grown from $700,000 to over $3 million, and the number of people served has jumped from 80,000 to over 150,000 each year. ZACH plans to build a new live theatre center and classroom facilities adjacent to Town Lake. ZACH will use $10 million in Proposition 4 funding to help construct the new theatre complex, raising private funds to match the bond investment.
